Too long since last post.. Too much to tell
After Hoian we headed north to a town called Hue (dont know how to do the accent on the e). We arrived late at night and were lucky to find somewhere to stay due to the public holiday. We decided that the next day we would take a Moto tour (a moto is a 50cc cross between a motor bike and a scooter). We headed out early in the morning after breakfast. The first stop was a waterfall, which was packed with people drinking and singing and hanging out (I even got to have a quick beer with some of the locals). From there we hit the beach for a bit (Long Co beach I think) and then headed up a mountain pass. It was an amazing ride. After we decended and continued on for about another 2 hrs back to the guesthouse. We showered up and grabbed some dinner with the drivers. Beer, traditional soup, rice wine then some pool for the night. The next day we woke early once again and grabbed a bus tour to the DMZ. We saw some bridges, the Vinh Moc tunnels, a US military base and a few other things. The bus dropped us off in the middle of nowhere, and we had to wait for about 4 hrs for the next bus. We hung out played badminton with the family that owned the place, read and tried to pass the time. The bus finally arrived and took us 13 hrs north to Hanoi. We grabbed a good guesthouse and spent the day trying to figure out what to fit in before our visas run out. That night we ordered pizza to the guesthouse, and instead of getting only 3 (one each) in the confusion with the language we got 6. Needless to say were eating pizza for a couple of days after. We hung out in Hanoi for a day, checking out the sites (including the perserved body of Ho Chi Minh). We are now on a trip of Halong Bay. A very beautiful place. Lime stone cliffs everywhere jetting out of the ocean. Last night we slept on a boat in the harbour and this morning did a 4 KM hike up a Mountain. Later we hit a beach and a place called monkey island. Tomorrow back to Hanoi and then to Sapa, in the mountains for a couple of days, then back to Hanoi again. So many people, so much to take in, having a good time... Vietnam is such a wonderful country...
